Hello! I hope your Thanksgiving was fulfilling and your Black Friday shopping was successful. Now that Thanksgiving has come and gone, it is time for things to get festive on this blog. So I decided, why not call this post exactly what it is, the Kickoff to Christmas, here on the blog. Today I’m going to share some of my favorite things to do during the holidays, Pinterest boards that give me inspiration, my favorite Christmas records, and most importantly my favorite festive foods. So without further ado, here are ways I get into the holiday spirit.
+ The Tree. There’s just something about putting up the tree and decorating it while Christmas songs fill the background of each memory that just feels like the quintessential Christmas moment to me.
+ Baking Cookies. How else am I going to convince Santa to stop here? Of course, I will have to snag a few and quality check the dough while the baking is taking place.
+ Wrapping Presents. Although I also have a small little ember of burning hatred for gift wrapping, simply because I am terrible at it and I make it so much more challenging than it needs to be, at least the first two gifts I wrap leave me feeling good about myself and that I am ready to take on the holiday season, so as long as I don’t try to wrap all my presents at once last-minute (like usual), I might survive the holiday season.
My Holiday Pinterest Boards

+ Just looking for some Christmas cheer? My Christmas board is sure to send some candy-striped, hot cocoa cravings, and cozy-vibes your way.
+ Hands down my favorite Christmas album of all time is the Michael Bublé Christmas. It was the first Christmas record I got on vinyl because I love it so much. If you haven’t listened to it, you are severely missing out. If you listen to the deluxe version, there are even more classy Christmas tunes that he sings with such charm that only a modern crooner can pull off. If you haven’t heard it, you can listen to it here.
My favorite songs from the album: “It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas,” “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home”, and “Cold December Night.”
+ Next up is Kelly Clarkson’s holiday album, Wrapped in Red. This album has such a diverse range of Christmas songs ranging from originals to classics with rock n’ roll to more softer and cozy vibes along with everything in between. It really is the full package for a Christmas album, at least to me.
My favorite songs from the album: “Wrapped in Red,” “Underneath the Tree,” and “Winter Dreams.”
+ Pentatonix has released two amazing Christmas albums with fantastic songs, That’s Christmas to Me and A Pentatonix Christmas. Both albums showcase their amazing vocal talents as they do justice to many a classic Christmas carol along with a few heart-warming originals.
My favorite songs from That’s Christmas to Me: “That’s Christmas to Me,” and “Mary, Did You Know?”
My favorite songs from A Pentatonix Christmas: “The Christmas Sing-Along,” and “Hallelujah.”
Classic Holiday Treats
+ Hot cocoa. You can’t go wrong with a cup of hot cocoa (or peppermint hot cocoa). Feel free to go crazy with marshmallows and cool whip.
+ White chocolate peppermint mocha from Starbucks. So. Good.
+ Chocolate chip cookies. The hands-down greatest invention in the history of sweet treats (in my opinion). Grandma’s recipe is the ultimate holiday staple for my family.
+ Sugar cookies, the original customizable cookie, a true classic. Get festive with it.
+ Peppermint bark. If you’re unfamiliar, it is heavenly white chocolate melted down, mixed with crushed candy canes, then frozen to a solid. Once frozen you break it up into several pieces for your edible enjoyment. Although I can only eat about two pieces before I pass out of a sugar overdose, it’s totally worth it every Christmas.
+ Mom’s chocolate fudge. Can I get a yes ma’am? Another treat so sweet I can only stand to down a couple pieces before I feel a sugar crash coming. Even then, it still one of the highlights of my holiday season.
Hopefully, this post helped get you into the mood for some festive fun because it certainly did for me while writing it! Check back here within the next week to see some more holiday posts appear on the blog, or follow me on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook for updates on upcoming holiday posts!
